Is Xbox Game Pass Worth It?

Yes, it is worth it. However, you should look at the available games to see if there is anything you like, or else you might be better off just buying that particular game once-off and not getting Xbox Game Pass.

I regret a lot of subscriptions, But Xbox game pass I certainly Do Not regret.

In case you don’t know what Xbox Game Pass is, it’s a monthly subscription you pay to Microsoft and get access to over 100 mostly high-quality games.

The games are sometimes a little bit older, however, some of them are brand new like The Outer Worlds. Here are one or to examples:

Middle-earth: Shadow of War

It’s a bit older but it’s still a really great game. You can sink many hours in this bad boy. I recommend it.

The Outer Worlds

If you liked fallout new vegas you would probably like The Outer Worlds, but check out gameranx video on it here

Sea of Thieves

Sea of Thieves is pretty great, but I much prefer to just watch Summit1g play. check him out here.

Rise of the Tomb Raider

Rise of the Tomb Raider is an example of an older game but is still great. Check out gameranx video here.

There are 3 tiers of Xbox Game Pass.

Console:

Cost: R159 / m

Xbox Game Pass Console edition is for… You guessed it, Consoles! (the X-Bone 🦴). What’s so special about the console version?

  • it gives you access to 228 games
  • New games added all the time
  • Xbox Game Studios titles when they premiere
  • Exclusive member discounts and deals

The Console version cost slightly more money, compared to pc at the time of writing, but offers great value. It’s highly recommended if you own an Xbox One.

PC:

Cost: R69 / m (Introductory price)

Xbox Game Pass PC edition cost less but you do get fewer games, which is a bummer. However, it’s still great value for money even with fewer games. My best guess is that Microsoft is trying to blur the lines between Xbox and PC in order to gain dominance over Sony, So we should expect fewer Xbox exclusives and more Microsoft platform (PC and Xbox) exclusives. Anyway, What’s so special about the PC version?

  • Lower Price.
  • it gives you access to 100+ games
  • New games added all the time
  • Xbox Game Studios titles when they premiere
  • Exclusive member discounts and deals

ULTIMATE:

Cost: R199 / m

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate edition is simply the Console version plus the pc version AND includes Xbox Live Gold (which normally cost R159 / m). So it makes sense to get the ultimate edition if you were paying for Xbox Live Gold and want to get Xbox Game Pass as well. What’s so special about the PC version?

  • it gives you access to 228 games (Xbox one) and 100+ games on PC
  • New games added all the time
  • Xbox Game Studios titles when they premiere
  • Exclusive member discounts and deals
  • Includes Xbox Live Gold

So Is It Worth It?

I would say yes it is especially if you are on console. They are constantly adding more games and seem to be releasing some Microsoft games on Game Pass the same day as release. But not all games, for example, Quantum Break (released 2016) is a Microsoft exclusive on both Xbox and PC but it only included Xbox Game Pass Ultimate 😒 BRUH, that’s just silly to me.

Also, a lot of the games probably won’t appeal to you. so you best browse the catalogue before making a decision. That being said, maybe you should try some games you normally wouldn’t, you may just like them 😃.

It’s not that expensive so you should just give it a shot and play something. Maybe try the Halo: The Master Chief Collection or the new Gears of war. and if you don’t like it you haven’t wasted an arm and a leg. this is pretty obvious advice but I stand by it, If you have anything to add please comment bellow!
